Mark Ruffalo has confirmed he will not reprise his role as Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. The actor, who first appeared as the character in 2012's The Avengers, has featured in all four previous Avengers movies.
Speaking to Empire Magazine alongside his MCU co-star Chris Hemsworth, Ruffalo revealed he would not be part of the fifth instalment, scheduled for release on 18 December. However, he expressed openness to returning in the future if given compelling material. 'As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk,' he said.
Ruffalo is set to appear as Bruce Banner in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due out on 31 July. Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker, shared insights into his involvement in the film's development, telling Esquire he conducted 'sneaky research online' to pitch ideas to Marvel.
Other original Avengers stars, including Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, will also be absent from Doomsday. The film remains one of the most anticipated releases in the MCU.
