Ronnie O'Sullivan has withdrawn from the English Open for the second consecutive year, following his exit at the Shanghai Masters. The seven-time world champion will not appear at the Brentwood Leisure Centre event.
Opponent gets automatic bye
His scheduled opponent, Liam Davies, has been given an automatic bye into the next round as a result of O'Sullivan's decision.
Home tournament absence
The last time O'Sullivan competed in his home tournament was in 2024. He has won the English Open only once during his career.
In recent years, the Rocket has chosen to prioritise events held outside the United Kingdom.
