Season 2 Plot Details
A synopsis reveals: “Season 2 sees DCI Jeanette Kilburn's hunt for the killers of young male asylum seekers take a shocking new turn, as a mummified body discovered in a church wall, and a body in a freezer, reveal a chilling connection. As Jeanette digs deeper, Dr. Sophia Craven begins to suspect Victoria Burkeman, her mysterious and unstable former patient could be responsible. With the case growing darker, Sophia suspects Victoria is more familiar than she thought, and Jeanette must face the terrifying truth: the killer may be closer than she ever imagined.”
Cast and Crew
Eve Myles (Torchwood, Gone) returns as DCI Jeanette Kilburn, alongside Coronation Street icon Katherine Kelly as Dr. Sophia Craven. The cast also includes Dougray Scott (Vigil), Victoria Hamilton (Slow Horses), and Trevor White (Industry). The series is adapted by Milly Thomas and based on the books by Swedish co-authors Jerker Eriksson and Håkan Sundquist.
Slash's Involvement
Rock fans will be delighted to know that Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash serves as an executive producer, having become a fan of the original books. He also contributes to the show’s soundtrack alongside composer Adam Price.
Critical Acclaim
The first season earned an impressive 88 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating. One IMDb fan raved in a 9/10 review: “Thanks Slash! Masterpiece. Great cast, great swirling plot, superb blend of contemporary issues and man's inhumanity to man! There were elements of Silent Witness and Vera which is meant as praise indeed. If the next series builds on this wonderful beginning we will be in Paradise City!”
Another viewer described the series as “dark, unpredictable and absolutely gripping”, adding it “masterfully blends grim themes with sharp, intelligent writing”. They praised the setting: “I think the show captures the city of Bristol's eerie charm as a perfect backdrop for a tale of betrayal, corruption, and deeply flawed characters. The writing is razor-sharp, full of unexpected twists that never felt forced. The show delves deep into the psyches of its leads, crafting complex, often harrowing arcs that resonate long after each episode ends. Equal parts chilling and captivating, Crow Girl is a must-watch for fans of atmospheric crime dramas. Couldn't recommend it more.”
