The second season arrives on Netflix on July 23, picking up half a year after Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly) left for New York City to pursue her career as a concert pianist. The season consists of eight episodes, down from ten in the first season, and will be released in full.
New and Returning Cast
Patricia Clarkson joins the cast as Claire O'Grady, Quinn's complex mother. Minka Kelly told Netflix, "Working with Patricia was a dream. I remember when April said that they got her, I couldn't believe it." Steve Howey (Reba, Shameless) appears as Staten's half-brother Levi. Josh Duhamel revealed, "I actually recommended him for the part. He came in and did an amazing job." Heidi Engerman plays the enigmatic wife of Yancy Grey (Jack Schumacher), and Ben Robson has been cast in an undisclosed role.
Plot Overview
Season 1 ended with Quinn and Staten (Josh Duhamel) splitting before Quinn's move to New York. Now, Staten is determined to win her back, but Quinn has developed a strong connection with Oliver (Ben Robson), a "mysterious, accented new man." Duhamel said his character is "willing to accept a lot of the responsibility for what happened" and is "much more out of his shell. He has fun." The synopsis teases, "Are they star-crossed lovers, or fated to be together? In Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait." Multiple love triangles are expected to feature prominently.
