The Argentina midfielder was involved in heated scenes after the match, pushing and shoving opposition players, but he refuses to entertain speculation about foul play.
Paredes Back in Action for Boca Juniors
Paredes, 32, is already playing for Boca Juniors in South America, having played the full 90 minutes and assisted the only goal in their first game back against O'Higgins. Unlike most of his international teammates, he did not take a break after the tournament.
Conspiracy Theories Dismissed
Footage of Lionel Messi addressing players before the match, urging them to 'forget what happened,' sparked conspiracy theories. A clip appeared to show Enzo Fernandez and Lisandro Martinez distressed as they emerged from the dressing room. Martinez was substituted just before half-time with an apparent injury, and Fernandez was sent off in stoppage time.
Paredes, however, has refused to entertain the rumours. In quotes reported by AS and translated from Spanish, he said: 'Spain was superior to us in the final; they are a fair winner of the World Cup.' He added: 'We don't give a damn about these theories. If it's what I hear, I have to go crazy.'

Speaking to ESPN, Paredes reflected on Argentina's tournament: 'For many, it will be a decision whether to continue or not. It was a spectacular process. It will be very difficult to maintain this level and keep the group functioning in this way.' He added: 'I think it's going to be a long process to overcome what we experienced. Although we achieved a lot, the pain of losing the final is going to hurt for a long time, because we were very close again.'
