Netflix UK is set to remove several popular titles in January 2026, including the beloved sitcom Friends, Mad Men, and the entire Harry Potter film franchise. The removals are due to the expiration of licensing agreements, causing frustration among subscribers who frequently re-watch these shows.
Friends, which arrived on the platform in 2018, has been one of the most re-watched titles on Netflix UK. Its departure marks the end of an era for the streaming service, as the sitcom continues to attract huge viewership numbers.
The Harry Potter films are also being removed, coinciding with the impending European launch of HBO Max, a streaming service that will house all Warner Bros. film titles. HBO Max is expected to launch in the UK in March 2026, and will include both Friends and the Harry Potter series.
A full list of movies and TV shows being removed from Netflix UK in January 2026 has been compiled with assistance from What’s on Netflix. Subscribers are advised to check the list and plan their viewing before the titles are taken down.
