Onslaught, a new American science fiction action film directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, has been listed on Letterboxd as a "most anticipated incoming release" ahead of its September 4 UK cinema debut. A fresh trailer for the A24 production dropped earlier this week, prompting a wave of excitement online.
The film stars Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Alex Pereira, Drew Starkey and Rebecca Hall. It is a spiritual sequel and connected-universe piece to Wingard's 2014 film The Guest, set in the same town and exploring another branch of the same secret military program.
Plot and cast
The film's synopsis reads: "When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers break loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter."
Produced by A24, the new trailer has been met with eager reactions from fans. One YouTube commenter wrote: "Really excited to see it! I hope A24 makes merchandise for this movie."
