Arsenal and Norway captain Martin Odegaard will lead his country into a historic World Cup quarter-final against England on Saturday evening at Miami Stadium. The 27-year-old midfielder, who recently lifted the Premier League trophy with Arsenal in May, has enjoyed a stellar season both on and off the pitch.
World Cup Success and Personal Life
Norway's 2-1 victory over Brazil in the last-16, secured by a brace from Erling Haaland, has set up the clash with England. Odegaard's performance against Brazil drew praise from experts as he dictated play throughout. Now, attention turns to his lesser-known private life, including his marriage to Norwegian dancer Helene Spilling and their family home.
Famous Wife: Helene Spilling
Odegaard married Helene Spilling, a 30-year-old former professional dancer and television personality. Spilling won the 17th series of Norway's version of Dancing with the Stars and has won the Norwegian dance championship 17 times. She also represented Norway at European and world levels. The couple began dating in early 2023 and made their first public appearance at the London Football Awards in March 2023. Spilling is the founder and owner of The Zone Dance Studio in Oslo and a brand ambassador for Thune jewellery. She is set to appear in the 2026 edition of the reality show Mesternes Mester.
Secret Wedding and Growing Family
In August 2024, the couple announced they were expecting their first child. Their son, Matheo, was born on December 1, 2024. Odegaard quietly married Spilling in a private civil ceremony in November 2024, with no public announcement. The marriage was revealed when Spilling changed her name to Helene Spilling Odegaard and fans noticed an engagement ring. The couple later celebrated with a larger wedding ceremony in Gjerdrum, Norway, in June 2025, attended by family, friends, and Arsenal teammates.
Dream £7.7m Mansion
According to Norwegian outlet Se og Hør, Odegaard and his wife moved into a £7.7 million mansion in December 2024. The property is located 30 km north-west of London in Hertfordshire, just half an hour from Arsenal's London Colney training centre. The mansion is surrounded by high hedges and a dark gate for privacy. Odegaard also owns a cabin plot in Hafjell, a popular ski destination in Norway, measuring 1,100-1,350 square metres, near teammates Sander Berge and Stefan Strandberg.
