Oasis fans spot BBC teaser sparking tour announcement rumours

Oasis fans eagerly awaiting confirmation of fresh tour dates from the reformed Manchester group were sent into a frenzy after a BBC teaser featured the band's distinctive typeface alongside today's date. The monochrome graphic displaying "23-06-26" appeared during promotional material for this evening's England World Cup fixture.

However, devoted fans of the band have interpreted the broadcast quite differently, as speculation intensifies that Liam and Noel Gallagher may be preparing for an announcement.

Oasis Live 25 reunion tour success

The group dominated the global music scene last year with their phenomenal Oasis Live 25 reunion tour, which achieved complete sell-outs across all venues and exceeded every projection, leaving supporters clamouring for additional performances. Despite countless whispers about potential dates throughout the past year, the brothers have maintained total silence regarding any future touring plans.

BBC promo triggers fan speculation

When viewers spotted the Oasis branding flash across their screens on Monday evening during World Cup programming, many found themselves momentarily bewildered. The presentation drew parallels with their initial reunion tour reveal, when dates were similarly displayed at concerts using the band's recognisable typography, reports Manchester Evening News.

The logo emerged during a BBC video replay showing the England squad after their 4-2 triumph over Croatia applauding England supporters and joining in as everyone sang Oasis anthem Wonderwall. England captain Harry Kane could be seen mouthing the words: "I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now."

The broadcast then transitioned to display today's date in the Oasis typeface. While it seemed to have been designed as publicity for tonight's England match against Ghana at 9pm, supporters quickly took to social media to share their speculation.

Fan reactions on social media

Posting the logo on X, Aston said: "THEY SHOWED THIS AT HALF TIME ON THE BBC? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? @liamgallagherspeak to me."

MessyJessy added: "GUYS ITS REAL IM GOING TO PASS OUT THIS HAS TO MEAN AN ANNOUNCEMENT".

Brian Squidman said: "Did anyone else just see that @oasis teaser with tomorrow's date on @BBCOne? ?".

Lewis posted the clip as he witnessed the moment which caught him off guard, asking: "Wait, what?".

Cath said: "trying so hard to tell myself it's just a football ad but if they drop an Oasis teaser mid-tournament I will actually lose my mind."

Some fans remain grounded

Some wondered whether it was a preview for the forthcoming Oasis documentary, scheduled to premiere on September 11. However, many attempted to remain grounded - highlighting that it was promoting the football fixture.

Fan Becca commented: "guys i don't think there'll be any announcement, they just used the oasis logo for the date of england's game because the wonderwall moment from the last game went viral."

Totallyretro87 commented: "Its just a promo for the England game, the BBC are trying to get it on the Wonderwall thing, as you were."

Joe remarked: "Pretty sure it was them advertising the England game today (they were using Oasis for the build up). But still, the BBC know what they're doing."

Manchester Evening News contacted BBC Sport regarding the teaser and are currently waiting for their response. The England versus Ghana fixture will be broadcast live on the BBC on Tuesday, 23rd June, with kick-off scheduled for 9pm.

Match of the Day Live, presented by Gabby Logan, will begin coverage from 8pm on BBC One.
