The first official trailer for Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey has been released online, offering a glimpse of Matt Damon as the legendary Greek hero Odysseus.
The epic retells Odysseus’s ten-year journey home to Ithaca following the Trojan War. The trailer showcases key cast members, including Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope, and Robert Pattinson as the suitor Antinous.
Mythological threats such as the Cyclops, a whirlpool, and Charlize Theron as the nymph Calypso also make brief appearances. The film, budgeted at $250 million (£184 million), was shot entirely on large-format IMAX cameras, with Nolan revealing he filmed over 2 million feet of footage.
A cinema-only trailer was leaked online in July. The Odyssey is set for release on 16 July in Australia and 17 July in the UK and US.
