Bob Odenkirk reprises his role as Hutch, a suburban family man turned assassin, in the sequel to the 2021 action hit 'Nobody'. The film, directed by Indonesian action specialist Timo Tjahjanto and co-written by original writer Derek Kolstad, continues the story of the seemingly ordinary father who reveals extraordinary combat skills.
Unlike its predecessor, the sequel lacks much of the humour and storytelling flair that made the original stand out. Instead, it focuses heavily on elongated fight sequences, with Hutch taking on groups of opponents in increasingly improbable scenarios. The film also introduces a dog early on, apparently to bolster Hutch's relatability as a family man.
The plot follows Hutch as he insists on taking his family, including his cantankerous father played by Christopher Lloyd, on a summer holiday to a tacky resort. There, he becomes entangled with local criminals, including a corrupt sheriff portrayed by Colin Hanks and a sadistic crime boss named Lendina, played by Sharon Stone. The action culminates in a war-zone-style finale set in a funfair.
Odenkirk delivers a conscientious performance, though fans may still recall his more celebrated roles as the harassed lawyer in 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul', or his psychotherapist in 'Arrested Development'. The sequel is now showing in cinemas.
