Netflix has confirmed that its legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer will conclude with its fifth season, currently in production. The show, which has performed well on the streamer for four years, stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, an attorney who works from the back seat of his Lincoln sedan.
Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said in a statement: “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us. From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is, of course, bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.”
The final season will be based on Michael Connelly’s seventh book in the series, Resurrection Walk, and will feature Cobie Smulders as Mickey’s long-lost half-sister who seeks his help to free a wrongfully convicted woman. Returning cast members include Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole and Angus Sampson, with recurring guest stars Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Marie and Gigi Zumbado. Newcomers Amy Aquino, Angela Trimbur, Elpidia Carillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer and Keir O’Donnell are also joining the cast.
The fifth season was renewed a week before the fourth season premiered in February. That most recent installment spent four weeks on Netflix’s worldwide top 10 English-speaking series, amassing more than 26.4 million views. A release date for the ten new episodes has not yet been announced.
