A new crime thriller on Netflix has been hailed as a 'masterpiece' by viewers, with many recommending it as a must-watch. The six-part limited series, titled Legends, is already trending on the streaming platform since its release on May 8.
Social media user Luke Ecclestone, known as Eccy Reviews on TikTok, urged followers to binge the show, describing it as a gripping thriller based on a true story. The drama is set in the early 1990s and follows customs officers who go undercover to infiltrate drug gangs, placing them under intense mental strain as they adopt false identities.
Netflix's synopsis reads: 'As drugs flood the streets of '90s Britain, a team of civil servants is thrust undercover to topple the gangs behind it. Inspired by an untold true story.' An end title card reveals that in the 1990s, undercover investigators from Her Majesty's Customs helped seize more than 12 tonnes of heroin with a street value of over one billion pounds, with minimal training and resources compared to international counterparts.
Created by Neil Forsyth, the series stars Tom Burke, Steve Coogan, and Hayley Squires. On IMDb, Legends holds an impressive rating of 7.9 out of 10 from nearly 2,000 reviews.
Viewers have been quick to share their enthusiasm on social media. One TikTok user who watched the entire series in a day called it a '10/10' and the best show they've seen in ages. Another commented that Steve Coogan 'nails it' in a serious role, while a third praised the show for being based on a true story and reflecting the UK's drug problem in the 90s.
