M&S brings back four retro chocolate bars from the 1980s

Marks and Spencer has confirmed it is bringing back four popular chocolate bars from the 1980s. The St Michael chocolate bars Jet, Now, Sparks and Coconut Grove will return to store shelves as full-size and mini bars, as well as in a 14-bar variety pack.

Flavours and packaging

The bars offer a range of flavours: Jet is milk chocolate with soft nougat, peanut and caramel; Now is milk chocolate with biscuit and caramel; Sparks is milk chocolate with soft nougat and caramel; and Coconut Grove is milk chocolate with a soft coconut centre. Each bar will be wrapped in nostalgic St Michael packaging.

An M&S spokesperson said: “M&S Food is bringing back four retro chocolate bars from the St Michael archives. Originally part of our 1980s confectionery range, Jet, Sparks, Now! and Coconut Grove will return to Foodhalls next week, giving customers the chance to rediscover much-loved favourites from the era. Each bar, wrapped in nostalgic St Michael packaging, offers its own distinctive flavour and texture.”

History of St Michael brand

The St Michael brand was established in 1927 and became an exclusive supplier to M&S. By 1950, nearly all products sold by M&S used the St Michael brand. The retailer phased out and stopped using the brand name by 2000, retiring it as part of a rebranding and restructuring scheme.

One excited customer said: “I can’t wait to relive my youth all over again. These bars will be enjoyed by a whole new generation of fans.”
