The body of missing model Jessica Jarikre, also known as Jessica J, has been recovered from a reservoir in Wrocław, Poland, just days after she appeared on the catwalk at Wrocław Fashion Week. The 24-year-old model and singer was reported missing on Monday after returning to her apartment, sparking a major search that ended tragically.
Disappearance and Search
Jessica was last seen at around 9pm on Monday after returning to her home in Wrocław. Her family raised the alarm when they could not contact her. Police investigations revealed she had left her apartment without her mobile phone or any identification documents. An appeal described Jessica as approximately 5ft 7in tall, with a slim build and distinctive tattoos on her left forearm and abdomen.
Jessica's social media profiles featured not only modelling photographs but also videos of her singing performances. Wrocław Fashion Week, where she had walked the catwalk just days earlier, shared the missing persons appeal on social media, stating: "Dear friends! Jessica, whom you may know from our catwalks, has gone missing. If anyone has information about it, report it to the police."
Discovery of Body
Her body was recovered from a reservoir near her home. The Water Rescue Service (WRS) said: "Before 2am, a woman’s body was recovered from the bottom of the reservoir." Wrocław Police confirmed the tragic end of the search, stating: "We are informing about the tragic end of the search for the 24-year-old woman. At this moment, this is all the information we are providing to the public."
Tributes and Investigation
Following the discovery, Wrocław Fashion Week paid tribute on Facebook: "There are moments and emotions that are extremely difficult to put into words. It is with great sadness that we accepted the news of the death of Jessica - a long-time model of Wrocław Fashion Week. For years she has been part of our history, bringing not only professionalism and talent to the runway, but most of all warmth, smile and unique energy that we will remember forever. Today our thoughts are with her family, loved ones and all who were lucky enough to know her. Farewell, Jessica. Thank you for being part of our community. You will always remain in our memory."
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, although they have preliminarily ruled out the involvement of any third party.
