Eva Mendes has publicly backed her husband Ryan Gosling's casting as Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actress, 52, appeared in the 2007 film opposite Nicolas Cage as the hero's love interest, Roxanne Simpson.

Mendes shared a fan-made video on Instagram promoting Gosling's involvement in the upcoming Ghost Rider project. She captioned the clip: “Love, Roxy,” referencing her previous role.
Announcement at Comic-Con
Gosling, 45, was announced as the new Ghost Rider at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday. He said it is a character he has “wanted to play for a very long time.” The film is scheduled for release in 2028, directed by Shawn Levy, who helmed Deadpool & Wolverine and is collaborating with Gosling on the space opera Star Wars: Starfighter (2027).
Personal Connection
Mendes and Gosling have been together since 2011, with Mendes referring to him as her “husband” in 2022. They have two daughters, Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 10. Mendes largely retired from acting after the 2014 film Lost River, citing dissatisfaction with roles and a desire to be home with her children. Her only acting role since was a voice part in a 2021 episode of Bluey.
Speaking to Variety in 2022, Mendes said: “There are more opportunities for Latina actresses now, but when I bowed out 10 years ago I wasn’t being offered things that weren’t specifically Latina. It is exciting that things are different now, so who knows what I will do in the future? But right now, I’m keeping it in the home with my kids.”
