Machine Gun Kelly has claimed he turned down an audition for the vampire role in Ryan Coogler's film 'Sinners' because he was unwilling to say the n-word. The rapper and actor made the comments during an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' on Thursday.
Kelly stated that he was set to audition for the part of a vampire, which he described as 'the one that's in the house' and 'the second vampire.' According to Kelly, the audition script required him to say the racial slur, which he refused to do. 'I wouldn't do it,' he said, explaining his decision.
The role Kelly referred to is believed to be Bert, a KKK member turned vampire, which was eventually played by Peter Dreimanis. The film, which stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld and Miles Caton, was a box office success. Kelly expressed regret but remained philosophical, saying, 'It'll align. The angels will put something in the works.'
Co-host Darius Butler fist-bumped Kelly in support of his stance. Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, also discussed his aspirations in film and his upcoming album 'Americana,' set for release on August 8.
