Love Island Star Reveals Dumpings Take Hours to Film

Love Island winner Gabby Allen has lifted the lid on behind-the-scenes secrets, revealing that dumpings and recouplings take hours to film. The 34-year-old TV personality, who first appeared on the show in 2017, shared her insights nearly ten years after her debut.

Early Morning Filming

In a chat with the Daily Record, Gabby disclosed that contestants occasionally rise in the early hours to record segments that occupy merely five minutes of the broadcast. She explained: "Dumpings or recouplings always take hours. You're literally awake at 4 o'clock in the morning, especially if it's a public [vote] because they have to get all the votes in."

Despite the lengthy build-up, the actual dumping unfolds as swiftly inside the villa as it appears on television. The emotional reactions that ensue are entirely genuine, reports OK!.

Genuine Emotions

Gabby elaborated: "When people get dumped after it's only been a day or two, and people are crying and you see the reactions of the public saying 'Why are they crying it's only been two days?' [It's because] you build such strong relationships with people very quickly in there."

She continued: "I always kind of get my back up a little bit about that because I'm like 'No, these people actually care about each other and it's really hard to send somebody home. Because you also know that you've been waiting for weeks and weeks to get into [the villa] and nobody wants to go home."

Gabby's Journey

Gabby has appeared across numerous hit programmes since her Love Island debut, including Channel 4's Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which she won. She returned to ITV last year for Love Island: All Stars Season 2, emerging triumphant alongside former partner Casey O'Gorman.

With two seasons under her belt, having experienced both the Majorcan and South African locations, Gabby appreciates the dedication Islanders demonstrate in creating captivating television.

Scoliosis Awareness

Gabby spoke with us to highlight Scoliosis Awareness Month, a medical condition she received a diagnosis for aged just 12. Scoliosis involves an abnormal lateral curvature of the backbone, which can be addressed via surgical intervention.

The TV personality underwent an operation on her spine while still in her early teens, leaving her with a noticeable mark across her back. The visibility of this scar became a source of self-consciousness for Gabby, particularly during her formative years as she matured. Now, though, she displays it confidently and aims to encourage others to feel equally at ease revealing their own surgical marks.

The latest season of Love Island is streaming now on ITVX.
