Super Mario Galaxy movie plot twist leaks early via London cinema error

Another Mario character might be making a surprise appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy movie. The film is little more than a month away, promising a return to the animated version of Nintendo’s beloved mushroom kingdom and beyond.

Fair warning: we will be discussing spoilers. A listing page for the movie on the Everyman Cinema website in London included a plot synopsis and cast list. The description reads: 'After defeating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, Mario faces Wario and Bowser Jr.'s evil alliance. Now, alongside his friends and Yoshi, he must stop their plans for world domination.'

Wario first appeared as the final boss in 1992’s Super Mario Land 2. The character is perhaps best known for his WarioWare games. His last outing was in WarioWare: Move it! For Nintendo Switch in 2023, although he also appeared as a racer in last year’s Mario Kart World.

It is currently unclear how Wario will end up working with Bowser Jr in the Mario Galaxy movie, nor who is voicing him. Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlie Day are set to reprise their roles as Mario, Princess Peach and Luigi. Jack Black will return as Bowser, with Benny Safdie as his son, Bowser Jr. Brie Larson joins the cast as Rosalina.

The movie will have a runtime of 98 minutes and will release in UK theatres on April 1, 2026.
