Actress Kim Tiddy has revealed that she has auditioned for EastEnders several times but has not yet secured a role on the BBC soap.
Tiddy, best known for playing Heidi Costello in Hollyoaks and PC Honey Harman in The Bill, opened up about her attempts to join the long-running drama.
Auditioning for Nicola Mitchell
She revealed that she previously auditioned for the role of Nicola Mitchell, which went to Laura Doddington. She also tried out for the part of Nicola's sister but was unsuccessful on that occasion too.
Speaking to Betway.com, Tiddy said: "I've auditioned for EastEnders a couple of times but haven't got the parts. I went for Nicola Mitchell, which ended up going to Laura Doddington. She's amazing, and the better actress got it. I also went for the part of her sister but didn't get that either. It just wasn't meant to be."
Praise for Laura Doddington
Despite missing out on both opportunities, Tiddy was full of praise for Doddington and had no regrets about how things worked out.
Tiddy previously spent time in Hollyoaks, where she portrayed Heidi Costello from July 2010 until October 2011. Her character was part of the Costello family, who arrived in the village as the new owners of The Dog in the Pond pub. The family became involved in several major storylines before being written out through dramatic and tragic developments.
Reflecting on Hollyoaks exit
Looking back on her Hollyoaks exit, Tiddy admitted she had been disappointed to leave so soon, particularly because she felt her character's story was only beginning.
She said: "It was a shame as I felt we were really just getting going, and then I was killed, and the family kind of disappeared. But again, it draws a line under it. There's no point feeling sentimental or emotional about it; that's just the decision that's been made."
Tiddy also revealed that leaving the soap was not her decision, although she stressed that she did not leave on bad terms. "It wasn't my choice to leave, but I didn't part on bad terms. I felt like the character was just getting started. But I did get to work with Jeff Rawle, who played my father, Silas Blissett. He's such a great actor, and he ended up being the one to murder me," she said.
Hollyoaks airs Mondays to Wednesdays on E4 at 6:30 PM.
