Kelvin and Liz Fletcher Reveal Abandoned Plans to Move to America
Kelvin Fletcher Opens Up About Scrapped US Move Plans

Kelvin Fletcher and Liz Fletcher have opened up about their abandoned plans to move to America, revealing how the COVID-19 pandemic changed their lives. The former Emmerdale star and his wife appeared on a repeat of James Martin's cookery programme, where they discussed their unexpected farming journey.

From Hollywood Dreams to Farming Reality

During the show, James Martin congratulated the couple on their latest series. Kelvin revealed that they had finished series three last year and were already working on series four. Martin joked that the couple couldn't complain since filming was their idea. Kelvin explained that they pitched the concept of documenting their farming journey, and ITV agreed, leading to four successful series.

The conversation then shifted to their scrapped American aspirations. Martin noted that the couple had originally planned to move to the US and had even obtained visas. Liz interjected, explaining that as actors, they wanted a change after Kelvin's 20-year stint on Emmerdale. They set their sights on Hollywood and LA, but COVID-19 halted their plans. The visas were paused for at least two years, and they had already sold their house. This led them to discover the farm in Cheshire.

Life Imitates Art

Despite playing a farmer on Emmerdale, Kelvin admitted that neither he nor Liz had any real farming experience. He joked that his soap role involved more shooting and drama than actual farming. However, he noted that life has imitated art, and they have embraced their new lifestyle. From Los Angeles to the Peak District, it was an unconventional transition, but one they have fully committed to.

James Martin's Saturday Morning is available to watch on ITVX.
