Katie Price was reportedly due to return to Good Morning Britain while her husband Lee Andrews was missing, but ITV bosses cancelled her appearance at the last minute. The 48-year-old former glamour model married Dubai businessman Lee Andrews in January, just two weeks after meeting him.
Planned Return Scrapped
In May, the former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! star was scheduled to appear on the ITV breakfast programme with her fourth husband, but he failed to board his flight. She ended up speaking to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls alone. What followed was a fortnight of bizarre twists, with Lee's whereabouts unknown until he resurfaced in notorious Al-Awir prison. He initially claimed he was held on suspicion of espionage, but it later emerged the detention was related to debts.
Now, it has emerged that Katie had been due back on the ITV sofa while her husband was missing, but the appearance was cancelled the day before.
Source Reveals Reason
A source said: "Katie was meant to be back on Good Morning Britain a week or so back when Lee was still MIA – but they pulled her the day before." Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "It wasn't so much that she wasn't welcome back, I think it was that she didn't seem to have anything new or concrete to say – she couldn't clarify anything and gives long, confused answers. It doesn't mean she won't be back in the future."
Lee Andrews Calls for Susanna Reid's Sacking
Just hours ago, Lee called for Susanna to be sacked from her hosting role on Good Morning Britain over comments she made about him live on air. The journalist was hosting the show with Martin Lewis when entertainment reporter Richard Arnold gave an update on Lee's release from prison and Katie's new documentary. As Richard discussed Katie's documentary with Sky and how she said it should have been eight episodes not four because she "always brings the drama," a frustrated Susanna told her colleague: "I think my eyes just rolled out of my head."
Taking to Instagram stories, Lee wrote: "So what is Susanna Reid rolling her eyes at? I'm not going to comment on that because obviously, I'll get onto the sofa with Katie at some point and we'll thrash it out." He added: "Your prejudice towards me without actually any solid evidence other than an ex coming forward with a story. If you're an investigative journalist, and surely you should know that."
He then recounted his prison experience, saying: "I'll say it one more time - the National Guard who took me in the beginning have guns and they don't register you as being arrested. They just take you and hold you and that is what happened. Anywhere in the world you go to an airport, they have guns, they're patrolling the border and they took me, not in the best way either. It was not the best experience and from there, they held me in state security. I was transferred..."
Previous GMB Interview
Susanna spoke to Katie about Lee when she appeared on GMB and asked if her husband was "unreliable," to which Katie responded: "Not to me." The host said: "What I love about you Katie is that you're very open, but I just wonder if he's telling you everything." Lee failed to board his flight to the UK for the joint interview. When asking the Foreign Office about Lee, the researching team was told by a spokesperson: "We supported a British man who was detained in the UAE." Ed then asked Katie directly if Lee had been arrested.
Katie hit back: "No, I feel like they just said it to me in there [backstage] so I just said to Lee apparently a British man has been detained, can you confirm it's not you?" and he did a voice note back saying it's not him and sent laughing emojis.
The Mirror has contacted Katie's reps for comment.
