Josie Gibson has hit out at claims that weight loss jabs are the reason for her recent transformation, which comes after she previously explained how she had been diagnosed with lipoedema.
Josie's surgery revelation
Earlier this year, the This Morning star said she has spent years 'fighting her genetics' due to the disease, which causes an abnormal build-up of fat, mainly presenting in the legs. After sharing her struggle on social media, Josie later appeared on This Morning and revealed she has spent £7,000 on surgery.
Speaking about her op, with no treatment currently available on the NHS, Josie said: "The last thing I want to do is put myself through surgery. But it was the last resort. What they do is like this lipo treatment then they laser it after."
"So they burn your skin on the inside so that it tightens together again. I’ve only done my calves. It’s split up into sections. You can’t do it all at once in this country. And I was too scared to have it done abroad."
Addressing the weight loss jabs claims
While she said she was pleased with the results, Josie admitted: "But it’s a lot of money and time. I’ve paid over £7k for just my calves." Ben replied: "Luckily you’re in a position where you can afford it," to which Josie agreed: "I know, and a lot of people can’t."
Speaking about the diagnosis now, mum-of-one Josie said: "It was a light-bulb moment. I was told: ‘You can’t out-train lipoedema.’ It was heartbreaking, but it all made sense."
But she has been forced to address her slimmer figure, having reportedly lost 2.5 stone, after being flooded with comments from fans. "The amount of people that have gone: ‘Fat jabs, fat jabs, fat jabs!’ I’m like: ‘How about single mum running around the country, trying to hold down a career and sort a house build, while trying to do everything else as well, including the cleaning – how about that?’" she told The Sun.
Previous arm surgery
It comes after Josie revealed earlier this year that she had undergone a brachioplasty after earlier liposuction on her arms. In a video shared at the time, she told her social media followers: "I’ve just had about 20 messages asking how I am, so I’m so sorry I didn’t want to alarm anybody. I went in to see Paul Tulley last Friday for brachioplasty. There was nothing wrong with me. I’m really, really good, in fact."
Explaining why she had the procedure, she said: "So for those of you who don’t know what brachioplasty is, obviously I had liposuction on my arms, and then I’ve had an arm lift, and that’s because the lipoedema is obviously on my arms as well."
