Comedian Josh Widdicombe has reportedly been offered the presenting job on Strictly Come Dancing, with an announcement expected in the coming days. The BBC show is seeking replacements for Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who announced their departure last year.
Chemistry Tests Impress Bosses
According to sources, Widdicombe entered the running later than other candidates but nailed the chemistry tests, leaving bosses with no choice but to sign him up. He is set to co-host alongside Emma Willis, who also impressed during auditions.
An insider told The Sun: "Josh has been offered the job alongside Emma, and it's his for the taking. He is so good at live TV thanks to co-hosting The Last Leg on Channel 4, and he's also quick-witted, kooky, awkward and funny. He can bring the comedy they need like Claudia Winkleman did in the 'Claudatorium', while Emma is seen as the sensible one, like Tess Daly."
Josh's Previous Strictly Experience
Widdicombe previously competed on the Strictly Christmas special in 2024, dancing the Charleston with Karen Hauer and scoring 36 points, narrowly losing to drag artist Tayce. His participation was encouraged by his daughter.
Meanwhile, professional dancer Johannes Radebe is also set to take on a roving presenter role. A source explained: "During the chemistry tests he was paired up with every other celeb and did incredibly well. They all think he would be the perfect partner for Emma."
Johannes, who joined the show in 2018, has become a fan favourite, notably forming the first same-sex partnership to reach the live final in 2021 with John Waite. His exact presenting role is still being finalised, with bosses considering bringing in three new people.
Former front-runner Zoe Ball, who hosted Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two from 2011 to 2020, recently expressed her disappointment at missing out, saying she was "grieving" after not being chosen.
A BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: "Plans for Strictly Come Dancing 2026 will be confirmed in due course."
