James Marsden, best known for his role as Cyclops in the X-Men franchise, recently joked about the possibility of joining the Avengers after his character's dramatic exit in X-Men: The Last Stand.
In a light-hearted interview, Marsden quipped, "Maybe I can come back as a different character in the Avengers—Doomsday was just a minor setback!" His comment playfully references the infamous death of Cyclops, which left fans divided.
From X-Men to Avengers: A Fan-Favourite Fantasy
Marsden's portrayal of Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, was a standout in the early X-Men films. However, his character was abruptly killed off in X-Men: The Last Stand, a decision that still sparks debate among fans.
When asked about his thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Marsden remained coy but didn't rule out a return. "Never say never in this business," he said with a laugh. "I’d love to work with Marvel again—maybe as a villain this time!"
Why Fans Still Love Cyclops
Despite his character's untimely demise, Marsden’s Cyclops remains a fan favourite. His charm and leadership qualities made him a cornerstone of the original X-Men trilogy.
With the multiverse now a key element in both Marvel and DC films, the door is wide open for surprise returns. Could Marsden’s Cyclops—or a variant—make a comeback? Only time will tell.
