ITV's Believe Me: Release, Cast, and What to Expect

ITV's new true crime drama Believe Me delves into the harrowing experiences of the victims of John Worboys, known as the "black cab rapist". The series, which stars actors from Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders, and Industry, focuses on how the Metropolitan Police failed to thoroughly investigate the victims' allegations.

Release Time and Schedule

The four-part drama premieres on Sunday, May 10, at 9pm on ITV. The second episode airs the following evening, Monday, May 11, at the same time. The third and fourth episodes will be shown the following week on Sunday, May 17, and Monday, May 18. For those who prefer to binge-watch, all four episodes are already available to stream on ITVX.

Cast

Daniel Mays, known for Line of Duty and A Thousand Blows, portrays John Worboys. The victims are brought to life by a talented cast: Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders) plays Sarah, Miriam Petche (Industry) plays Carrie Symonds (now Johnson), and Aasiya Shah (Raised by Wolves) plays Laila. Other notable cast members include Alexa Davies (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), Kae Alexander (Bad Education), Laurie Kynaston (Fool Me Once), and Philippa Dunne (Amandaland).

What to Expect

Believe Me shows how John Worboys would pick up women in his cab after a night out, claiming he had won at a casino or on the lottery. He would then persistently offer them a drug-laced glass of champagne to help him "celebrate," rendering them unconscious. However, the series focuses more on the victims' perspective and their feelings of being disbelieved by the police after reporting the incidents. The description for episode one reads: "Sarah Adams is given a drugged drink by a taxi driver and is certain she was raped. After months of Sarah feeling disbelieved by the police, her case is dropped and the man is free to attack again." The series is a fact-based crime drama about the fight for justice by the victims of serial sex offender John Worboys.
