Grand Tour new trailer splits fans as new hosts take over

Amazon Prime Video has released the first trailer for the upcoming series of The Grand Tour, featuring new hosts Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman, and Thomas Holland. The show returns on September 4, with a cameo from the original line-up as they pass on hosting duties.

New hosts unveiled in action

The teaser shows the new trio driving and competing across dangerous terrain, with moments designed to bring a smile to viewers' faces, mirroring the original series' format. Scenes include the three standing atop a hill, pushing beaten-up old cars down it, and observing their destruction. The narrator jokes about "swapping the worn out knobs in cars for new ones," before Bourgeois shouts: "That's us."

Fans divided over reboot

Despite the trailer's fun moments, the new line-up has divided viewers. One fan called the jest "the most hilarious meta joke you could have possibly pulled," while others expressed scepticism. Comments on YouTube ranged from "This is going to be EPIC, can not wait" to "Still sceptical but will give it a try." One viewer noted, "In 2002 the trio only just started and had to work to build their audience, so why not let another group try and do their own version and build their own audience."
