A 2002 Range Rover once owned by Wham! star George Michael is going up for sale at auction.
The third-generation Range Rover was purchased new by Michael before going into the ownership of the singer's father. It was then returned to the 'Faith' star, after which it went into dry storage. It was bought by its current owner back in 2017.
Original Features and Condition
Offered by classic auctions and modern performance specialists Trade Classics, the Range Rover Vogue comes with its original five-spoke alloy wheels and 'Oslo Blue' metallic paint, while inside there's full charcoal leather upholstery with heated front seats and original carpets in 'excellent condition', according to the vendor.
Underneath the bonnet is a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre V8 engine, which is linked to a five-speed automatic gearbox. When launched, this setup developed 292bhp and 439Nm of torque, while permanent four-wheel-drive ensured it could tackle any terrain.
Documentation and Provenance
The Range Rover also features electronic air suspension, which can be raised or lowered depending on the driving situation.
All of the car's handbooks are present and are accompanied by older MOT certificates and an HPI report which displays the car's original registration plate. It also shows the original Stratstone of Mayfair service book used before the vehicle was moved to its current registration. There's a copy of the old V5C document which has George Michael's birth name – Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou – on it, too.
Auction Details
The Range Rover is also accompanied by photographs which show Michael getting in and out of the car, with one snap showcasing the star singing inside the classic four-wheel-drive.
With just under 80,000 miles on the clock, the Range Rover is currently up for sale on the Trade Classics website where the auction will end on Thursday, August 20.
