Martin Scorsese's daughter Francesca Scorsese has secured a starring role in the second season of the Amazon Prime series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The 26-year-old media personality, who is following in her father's entertainment footsteps, has been cast as a Jane Smith in the forthcoming season, currently filming in Los Angeles, according to Deadline.
Cast and Production Details
Francesca will join other new cast members such as Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder. Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, who led the first season, are expected to return. Glover is reportedly set to direct some of the upcoming episodes. Plot details and an exact release date have yet to be announced.
The Amazon Prime Video series was co-created by Glover and Francesca Sloane, inspired by the 2005 film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Season one followed two strangers who land jobs with a spy agency, offering them a life of espionage, wealth, and travel, with the catch of new identities in an arranged marriage. The show received positive reviews, scoring 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
Francesca's Career and Background
Francesca Scorsese made her film debut in her father's 2004 movie The Aviator and appeared in minor roles in The Departed (2006) and Hugo (2011). She also starred in Wolf At The Door (2017), the short film We Salute You (2018), and the HBO series We Are Who We Are (2020). More recently, she appeared in Christmas Eve In Miller's Point (2024) and Roommates (2026).
She graduated from New York University Tisch School of Arts in 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In an interview with Interview Magazine, she said her father brought her on set from a very young age, creating an altered state of reality for her. She knew from childhood that she wanted to enter the industry, and her father supported her, though he initially pushed back when she wanted to act as a teenager.
Embracing Her Nepo Baby Status
Francesca has been open about her nepo baby status. In 2024, she told Nylon Magazine, “Of course I get the upper hand with a lot of things – I'm very fortunate. But the one thing I can do is try to keep myself humble, grounded, and spoil the f*** out of my friends.” She added, “I just try to be the best nepo baby that I can be.”
