Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is to make his feature film acting debut, providing the voice for an animated Viking named Haaland in the upcoming movie 'Viqueens'. The Norwegian international will play an animated version of himself, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
The film is directed and co-written by Harald Zwart, known for 'The Karate Kid' and 'Agent Cody Banks'. Zwart said: 'Erling has already become a kind of real-life Viking icon around the world – powerful, fearless and uniquely Norwegian. Bringing him into this universe as himself gives the film an unexpected energy and authenticity that felt completely right for this story.'
According to its IMDB synopsis, the storyline of 'Viqueens' follows two courageous Viking girls who travel from Norway to China to return a stowaway, discovering secrets and mastering dragon kites, fireworks and kung fu, while realising that friendship's gifts surpass anything taken from adversaries.
Zwart has already secured musician Rita Ora and 'Yellowjackets' actress Ella Purnell as the lead voice actors, playing Hedvig and Ingrid respectively. Comedian and chatshow host Alan Carr also appears in a smaller role as 'a lyrically challenged royal scribe'.
Haaland, who joined Manchester City in 2022 from Borussia Dortmund, currently leads the race for the Premier League Golden Boot with 26 goals in the 2025-26 season.
