Emmerdale has revealed a major twist involving newcomer DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) and Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy), as their grand masterplan is finally exposed.
The detective was introduced shortly after Dr Caitlin Todd's (Caroline Harker) death. While questioning Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), Ramsden quickly suspected they weren't being entirely honest about what happened.
Serena, who arrived at Jacobs Fold seconds after Sarah pushed Todd and helped create a cover story, was also interviewed. Thanks to her previous work as a police officer, she knew exactly what Thea would ask and answered without breaking a sweat.
Hug confirms connection
In today's episode, DS Ramsden was in the village hoping to get more information from Charity about Todd's death. She then arrived at Emmerdale Farm to see Serena. Seconds later, the two women hugged, confirming they know each other very well.
This connection likely explains why Thea can sense Serena isn't telling the whole truth. She encouraged her friend to share more, but Serena stuck by her story. Ramsden then commented that she hopes whatever Serena is up to won't get in the way of their plan.
Home Farm break-ins revealed
As the episode ended, Thea and Serena were outside the pub. It was revealed that Serena has been breaking into Home Farm for Thea, who wants to find something that can bring Kim Tate (Claire King) down.
After a brief interaction with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), Thea stated that Joe isn't the devil, but Kim is. 'She's the one I need to cut off at the knees', she told Serena. 'Get me what I need on Kim Tate so I can finally bring her down'.
The word 'finally' suggests Thea has been plotting against Kim for quite a while, though how she knows her remains unclear. Whether she will succeed in her plan is yet to be seen.
