Rian Johnson has confirmed that the upcoming third instalment in the Knives Out series, titled 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery', will feature a secret cameo. The director teased the appearance in a recent interview, though he declined to reveal the actor's identity, leaving fans to speculate ahead of the film's release.
Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc in the sequel, which began production on 10 June 2024 and wrapped in August. The cast also includes Josh Brolin, Josh O'Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, and Thomas Haden Church.
The film will have a limited theatrical run starting 26 November before streaming on Netflix from 12 December. A trailer released on 17 November shows O'Connor's character, a former boxer turned priest, attempting to convince Blanc of his innocence in the death of Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, played by Brolin.
Johnson writes, directs, and produces alongside Ram Bergman through T-Street Pictures. The sequel is part of a $450 million deal with Netflix for two follow-ups to the 2019 original.
