The first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada has been released, featuring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprising their iconic roles. The film, titled The Devil Wears Prada 2, is set for release in May 2026.
Streep, who earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of tyrannical magazine editor Miranda Priestly in the original 2006 comedy, returns alongside Hathaway as former assistant Andy Sachs. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci also reprise their roles, with Kenneth Branagh joining the cast as Priestly's new husband. The sequel will also feature Simone Ashley, Rachel Bloom, and Lucy Liu, with reported cameos from Lady Gaga and Sydney Sweeney.
The plot follows Priestly as she navigates the collapse of the magazine industry and is forced to rebuild bridges with her former assistant Emily, now head of a luxury brand. David Frankel returns to direct the sequel, which is based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger.
The original film grossed over $326 million worldwide and later inspired a West End musical. Blunt previously described the sequel as having "deep emotional roots" for her and Tucci, who later became her brother-in-law. The character of Priestly is widely believed to be inspired by former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who praised the original film as "a fair shot."
Filming has taken place in locations including Brooklyn and Milan. The sequel is part of a busy summer for Hathaway, who also stars in Mother Mary, Verity, Flowervale Street, and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
