Death in Paradise favourite Ralf Little is returning to screens tonight as DI Neville Parker, in a repeat episode airing on BBC. Little, who played the detective from series 9 to series 13, became the longest-serving Detective Inspector on the show.
Fans Hail Neville Parker as the 'Best' Detective
The character has been hailed by fans as the "best" and their "favourite" detective. Little first took on the role in series 9 and maintained it through to series 13, before signing off in 2024.
At the time of his exit, Little said: "Coming into a series beloved by millions was a huge responsibility and I had no idea whether viewers would take to my interpretation of Neville's character, and indeed to me."
Repeat Episode Airs Ahead of Don Gilet's Return
The BBC has been airing repeat episodes ahead of the series returning with Don Gilet, who took over from 2025. One episode from 2022 aired on Monday, August 17, with the synopsis teasing: "A reggae rap artist is shot dead at a soundcheck for a concert. Things prove uncomfortable for Marlon when he discovers a personal connection to the crime."
Little succeeded Ben Miller, Kris Marshall and Ardal O'Hanlon in the role. Stepping in, former EastEnders actor Don said: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands."
Two More Series and Christmas Specials Confirmed
Fans are awaiting Don's return as DI Mervin Wilson, after it was revealed that Death in Paradise has been recommissioned for a further two series and two Christmas specials.
Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, said earlier this year: "Death in Paradise is a global phenomenon and we are incredibly proud to have it on the BBC, where it goes from strength to strength."
Death in Paradise is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
