Emmerdale is gearing up for explosive scenes next week involving Lewis Barton and Kev Townsend, with a familiar face from Coronation Street joining the ITV soap.
Vinny's Surprise Trip Goes Wrong
In upcoming episodes, Vinny Dingle surprises Lewis Barton with a spontaneous trip to Madeira. However, Lewis's anxiety over the sudden plans causes him to pull out of the holiday. Despite Vinny's insistence, Lewis urges him to go alone, but after encouragement from brother Ross Barton, Lewis changes his mind. As he rushes to catch Vinny at the airport, his taxi ride takes a dark turn when a van screeches to a halt and he is kidnapped.
Kidnapping and Hostage Drama
Next week's spoilers reveal the aftermath as a woman named Kylie holds Lewis hostage. Ross receives a concerning message stating that Lewis is in danger unless his father returns 'Penny' to the kidnapper. A worried Ross warns Liam Cavanagh against calling the police and insists they contact Lewis's adoptive dad, Jeffrey. With no leads, Liam finally confesses that Lewis's biological father is Kev Townsend.
Kylie approaches Ross and reveals she is holding Lewis captive, demanding the return of 'Penny', which she describes as the 'most precious thing in the world'. Stressing it's a matter of life and death, Liam convinces Claudette to give him Kev's whereabouts. They find Kev selling cakes from his van, but his dismissive attitude leads to a scuffle with Ross.
The Truth About Penny
After their fight, Kev claims Penny is a diamond he sold to a pawn shop, and Ross demands he buy it back. However, when alone, Kev looks at a diamond around his neck, revealing he didn't sell it after all. Ross receives a threatening text from Kylie featuring scalpels, and she video calls Kev, demanding the return of Penny by the end of the day, emphasizing her seriousness by mentioning her eight years in Holloway.
Kev initially tells Liam and Ross that the pawn shop sold Penny, but later claims he located it and bought it back. Suspicious, Ross knocks Kev unconscious, telling Liam he plans to use Kev as an insurance policy for their trade. Later, Ross meets with Kylie to try and secure Lewis's release.
Who is Kylie?
The role of Kylie is played by actress Pippa Fulton, who recently appeared in Coronation Street. In 2024, she played Aurora, a woman involved in Steve McDonald's online dating storyline. Other roles include Leanne in Hullraisers, and she previously appeared on Emmerdale in 2014 as Jess. Pippa first rose to fame in 2002 on the BBC talent competition Fame Academy.
