Coronation Street finally revealed the cobbles whodunnit murderer on Monday's episode, which is available on ITVX now. The culprit was unveiled during a tense dinner party that featured flashforwards and flashbacks, exposing long-held secrets.
The Murder of Theo Silverton
Earlier this year, Theo Silverton was murdered by one of six suspects: his estranged husband Todd Grimshaw, George Shuttleworth, Gary Windass, Summer Spellman, George's girlfriend Christina Boyd, or Theo's former wife Danielle Silverton. On Monday's episode, the truth came out.
The Dinner Party from Hell
Kit Green had planned a romantic dinner for girlfriend Sarah Platt, intending to propose. However, the event was crashed by Todd, Summer, Gary, and Maria Connor. Tensions ran high as Maria and Kit suspected Sarah and Gary of having an affair. Summer made Kit feel guilty for suspecting her of Theo's murder and imprisoning her briefly. As Maria raised a toast, she announced that Gary and Sarah had been conducting an affair for weeks, leading to an explosive series of flashbacks.
The Fatal Encounter
A flashback revealed that Sarah received an odd text from Todd, prompting her to rush to his flat. There, Theo was waiting on the scaffolding with Todd's phone, using it to lure her. Worried for Todd's safety, Sarah tried to get answers, but Theo deliberately provoked her with cruel words and menacing behavior. Scared, Sarah pushed Theo out of the way, grabbed a piece of scaffolding, and hit him on the head, causing him to fall off the scaffolding and land on the floor.
The Cover-Up
Sarah ran downstairs to check on Theo and realized he was lifeless. She rang Gary and told him Theo was going to kill her. Gary helped cover up the crime, telling her to get an alibi. In the present day, Gary expressed regret for answering Sarah's phone call that night. Sarah begged him to keep their secret, fearing she would go to prison. The episode ended with Gary saying he could no longer keep her secret, as he risked losing his marriage to Maria and access to his family.
