Celtic Fan Demands Dermot Desmond Apologise to Shaun Maloney Over Penny Pinching
Celtic Fan Demands Desmond Apologise to Maloney

A Celtic supporter has demanded that Dermot Desmond issue an apology to Shaun Maloney, claiming that the club's penny-pinching has pushed him to the brink. The call came as the domestic football drama continues to take centre stage, while Scotland's national team awaits its next World Cup test.

Rangers Set to Appoint Derek McInnes

As Scotland fans take a breather before the upcoming clash with Morocco in the United States, the home front is buzzing with activity. Derek McInnes is poised to be unveiled as Rangers' new manager as soon as Danny Rohl receives the go-ahead from Red Bull Salzburg. The move is expected to be a blow for Hearts, but Rangers supporters are ready to welcome the new boss with open arms.

Gordon Hendry from Ochiltree expressed his confidence in McInnes. He said: “I am much more confident with the thought of McInnes leading us into next season than I was with Danny Rohl. With the addition of Lawrence Shankland and possibly Cammy Devlin and a few others, we should be in a much stronger position to mount a challenge in the league next season than we were last season. However, we will need to be, to get the better of the old fox at Parkhead.”

Gordon Ferguson echoed similar sentiments via email: “As another manager vacates Ibrox, I can’t help but think and hope this is the managerial appointment that will finally bring some pride and silverware back to the club. The late great manager Walter Smith touted McInnes years ago when the likes of Pedro Caixinha were being appointed. Walter knew what it takes to manage Rangers and also what type of player was required. Hopefully, Del Boy learned a few tricks he might need to make a few deals to make this work.”

Hearts Face Tough Times

It has been a rough few weeks for the Jambos. Their title hopes were dashed on the final day, and Lawrence Shankland is heading to Ibrox ahead of McInnes. With Beni Baningime leaving, Cammy Devlin out of contract, and Craig Halkett sidelined for months, the bad news keeps piling up.

Frank Jackson from Edinburgh voiced his frustration: “This is an absolute shambles from Hearts. In a matter of weeks, they have turned from being contenders to a feeder club. The Glasgow mob get rid of a third-rate manager for £2 million plus, but we accept a six-figure sum for a proper manager. Hearts are now a laughing stock feeder club with no ambition, and fans are being treated like mushrooms.”

Gary Stevenson from Newtonhill added: “You have to feel for Hearts. Robbed of the title last year, losing their top scorer, losing their manager, and about to lose Claudio Braga and Devlin. With Rohl leaving, McInnes was a certainty to be approached. Rangers need a Scotsman at the helm, and more importantly, a Scotsman who knows the players already in the building. Good work from Rangers behind the scenes, but Hearts deserve a break after a fantastic league season last year.”

Celtic Fan's Frustration Boils Over

Celtic have already appointed Martin O'Neill, but the wait continues for his backroom staff. One Celtic fan, Charles Maxwell, expressed his anger: “If Dermot Desmond has any sense at all, he will see that Shaun Maloney is approaching the peak of his powers and offer him a proper deal along with an apology. His penny pinching has got me climbing the walls.”

World Cup Reflections

Back to the World Cup, one caller had a message for the moaners who were not entirely satisfied with Scotland's win against Haiti. Peter Cooperwhite emailed: “As far as the win in the World Cup goes, we’ve waited 28 years for this. They say you can please some people sometimes but not please all the people all the time. Just let us take in a big win as it's long overdue. As Gianni Infantino said, chill and relax. I know Morocco will be a massive game, but a lot of big names are struggling to get their first wins.”
