Burlesque musical postpones Liverpool Empire shows to 2027

Burlesque the Musical has postponed its opening performances, which were originally scheduled to begin this weekend. The production is set to tour the UK through May 2027, including a run at Liverpool's Empire Theatre from November 24 to December 5.

West End run delayed

The musical is a stage version of the 2010 movie featuring Christina Aguilera, Cher and Stanley Tucci saving a burlesque club from closure. The show was set to open in London's Woking Theatre on Saturday, July 25, but tickets were pulled from online ticket retailer ATGTickets earlier today.

Afterward, the musical took to social media to share an update on the tour. Burlesque said the situation was "out of our hands" and that the opening West End Woking performances rescheduled for November 2027.

Statement from producers

The statement read: "To our Burlesque family. Some news, our planned West End run of Burlesque the Musical has been postponed until 2027.

"This is not a cancellation, it's a postponement, until we move into our new home. Stay tuned on that."

All ticket holders will be contacted by the Arts at Marble Arch regarding a full refund. Addressing the future performances, the musical added: "The good news is that Burlesque UK tour is officially on.

"We can't wait to welcome audiences to our burlesque lounge across the UK from August. We're so excited to bring this spectacular production to theatres around the country before returning to London in 2027.

"Thank you for your continued support - we can't wait to see you on tour." A European tour was planned for next year.

Liverpool Empire unaffected

The Liverpool Empire performances are scheduled from November 24 to December 5. They are expected to go ahead as usual and unaffected by the Woking postponements.

The ECHO has contacted a spokesperson for a confirmation.
