Revolucion de Cuba on Temple Street in Birmingham city centre is closing its doors after nine years, leaving customers heartbroken and saying the city "will never be the same". The bar confirmed it will shut for the final time on Saturday, July 25, after serving cocktails, food and live entertainment since opening in 2017.
The venue announced the news in a post shared with customers on Instagram, revealing that this weekend will mark its final days of trading. The bar said: "This weekend will be our final fiesta with one last dance, closing our doors on Saturday 25th July 2026. We have loved shaking your cocktails and creating unmissable parties and events over the years. We want to thank you for partying with us and hope you can join us for one last fiesta this weekend. Any guests with bookings will be contacted in due course. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Gracias."

Customers were quick to share their disappointment on social media following the announcement. One commented: "What a venue. What an era. Birmingham will never be the same." Another wrote: "Heartbroken is an understatement. Thank you SO so much for all the support you have given us over the years - we have had so many brilliant memories with you guys that we'll remember forever."
Background to closure
BirminghamLive reported that the closure comes just months after the then-owner of Revolucion de Cuba, The Revel Collective, fell into administration in January, leading to the closure of 21 venues and the loss of 591 jobs. The Birmingham venue remained open after it was acquired by Neos Hospitality as part of a buy-out, but it has now been confirmed that the Temple Street site will close as Revolucion de Cuba.
New venue planned
The venue will not stay empty for long. Neos Hospitality has announced plans to transform the site into Bonnie Rogues, one of its sister brands, following a planned £1million refurbishment. Described as a "live and loud" party bar, Bonnie Rogues offers live music, sport, karaoke, drinks and food, including Sunday roasts. There are currently four Bonnie Rogues venues across the UK, located in Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea and Kingston upon Thames.
The new Birmingham venue is expected to open towards the end of the summer, although an exact opening date has not yet been confirmed. Russell Quelch, chief executive of Neos Hospitality, said: "Birmingham is a city that loves live entertainment and social experiences, which makes it the perfect fit for Bonnie Rogues. It's all about bringing people together and creating an atmosphere where every visit feels like an occasion, whether that's watching live sport, enjoying a roast with friends or ending the night on the dancefloor. We're really excited to bring Bonnie Rogues to Birmingham later this summer."
