The fourth series of BBC's cosy crime drama Beyond Paradise concludes tonight, Friday, May 1, at 8pm on BBC One. The episode sees Detective Humphrey Goodman tackle his final intricate investigation in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott.
In the finale, a fire breaks out at Geraldine Desai's maritime exhibition during the town's annual pirate festival, and a historic treasure map belonging to pirate Elias Cutler goes missing. The question is whether the blaze was accidental or a diversion for theft. Meanwhile, Humphrey worries about a possible farewell gathering as Mr Smith prepares to take over.
With the series ending, the BBC has announced two programmes to fill the Friday 8pm slot next week. On May 8, an hour-long special of Question Time will air at 7.30pm, featuring a post-election debate with a panel of politicians and other guests facing audience questions, hosted by Fiona Bruce.
Following that, at 8.30pm, BBC One will broadcast David Attenborough's 100 Years On Planet Earth, a 90-minute live event from the Royal Albert Hall honouring the legendary broadcaster's centenary. The show will feature wildlife stories, reflections from friends and colleagues, and music from Attenborough's beloved programmes performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra under Jerome Kuhn.
