A major fire has torn through the historic Odeon cinema in Beckenham, sending plumes of thick black smoke visible across the London skyline and triggering a massive emergency response.
More than 70 firefighters rushed to the scene on Beckenham High Street after emergency calls flooded in around 1:30 PM today. Ten fire engines were deployed to combat the fierce blaze that completely engulfed the cinema's roof.

London Fire Brigade confirmed they were battling a significant fire involving the roof and first floor of the two-storey building. Station Commander Tony Deacon, who was at the scene, reported: "This is a significant fire and we have a large number of firefighters and officers working hard to bring it under control."
