The BBC has confirmed there are no plans to bring back the comedy series 'The Power Of Parker' after two series, despite ending on two major cliffhangers.
Disappointing viewing figures lead to cancellation
The sitcom, starring Conleth Hill as wannabe business guru Martin Parker, was axed following disappointing viewing figures, according to reports. A source told The Sun: "Losing any series will feel like a crime for its fans. But for the two million who watched The Power Of Parker, its axe with so many loose ends is a major felony."
The source added: "The ratings just didn't deliver enough bang for buck and it was decided the series would be chopped to make way for new formats."
BBC statement and cliffhanger details
A BBC spokesperson said: "There are no plans for a third series of The Power Of Parker. We'd like to thank Paul Coleman, Sian Gibson and the team at Boffola Pictures for bringing the show to our screens."
The final scene saw detective Ash (Navin Chowdhry) uncover a photograph of Martin escaping an armed robbery at a factory operated by his dishonest former employer Mic (Diane Morgan). Parker, portrayed by Conleth Hill, was also preparing for arrest on an attempted murder charge. The Stockport businessman, together with his long-suffering wife Diane and mistress Kath, believed they had evaded justice after forcing their business competitor Sandy (Steve Pemberton) into the rear of a garbage truck. However, a severely wounded Sandy emerged in the final episode brandishing video evidence and threatening to inform police unless they handed over substantial sums.
Series background
The Power of Parker first debuted in July 2023, written and created by Car Share's Sian Gibson, who also played Kath. Conleth Hill played Martin Parker, an entrepreneur and local Z-lister who faced comeuppance when his mistress and wife teamed up to bring him down, in a series set in 1990. A second season aired in May 2025, set two years later in 1992. Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
