Air frying bacon emerged as the top method in a comparison of four cooking techniques, while boiling was deemed the worst. The test included air frying, boiling, baking, and pan frying, using bacon from Lidl.
Air Fryer and Baking Impress
The air fryer method took under 10 minutes and delivered delicious, crispy rashers that looked great. The bacon also seemed less salty than when pan-fried, which was a bonus.
Baked bacon was praised for requiring no oil or spray, making it a healthier option. It didn't shrink or shrivel as much as other methods, offering a perfect balance between well-cooked and crispy, with reduced saltiness.
Pan-Frying and Boiling
Pan-frying was quick and trustworthy, producing great-looking and tasty bacon with full saltiness and a crispiness rated ten out of ten.
Boiling bacon was a first-time attempt that likely won't be repeated. It looked unappealing and tasted bad, though it was the mildest in saltiness. It might work in a full meal with beans, but not on its own.
