Asda's Toy Story ready meals win over fussy toddler in taste test
Asda Toy Story meals win over fussy toddler

Asda has launched a new Pixar-inspired Toy Story ready meal range designed for children. The collection includes four classic British favourites paired with popular characters: Buzz Lightyear Chicken Korma, Woody’s Mac ’N’ Cheese, Jessie’s Beef Lasagne, and Forky’s Spaghetti Bolognese.

The meals were tested by Social News Assistant Editor Samantha Bartlett and her toddler, who is typically a fussy eater. She reported being amazed by his reaction.

Toddler’s enthusiastic response

After heating the spaghetti bolognese, the toddler exclaimed, “Wow, that’s tasty!” and ate the entire portion. Bartlett tried a spoonful and agreed it had a lovely flavour, unlike other kids’ ready meals they had tried before.

The meals contain “hidden veggies” blended into the sauce, providing two of the five-a-day, with no added sugars—only naturally occurring sugars from vegetables.

Second meal also a hit

The next day, the toddler eagerly tried the Buzz Lightyear Chicken Korma and again ate every bit. Bartlett sampled the lasagne herself and found it tasty and generous in portion size for a child’s meal.

When told there were no more meals left, the toddler was disappointed, prompting Bartlett to plan a trip to Asda to buy more.

Range details and reception

Launched in June, the range has gained traction on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, with parents calling the character packaging a “game changer” for picky eaters. The familiar faces help fussy toddlers stay engaged and try new foods.

Each 280g meal retails for £2.75, with occasional in-store discounts to £2.00. Available in chilled or freezer aisles at Asda stores or online.
