Strictly Come Dancing stars Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu are set to appear in the new season of Celebrity Hunted on Channel 4, where they endured 'relentless' arguments – including one over carrot cake.
Return to screens for charity
The Caerphilly-born dancer will return to television in the reality show, which sees celebrities go on the run to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer. The new series premieres on Monday, August 3, more than a decade after the original Hunted first broadcast.
Amy will team up with her closest friend and Strictly colleague Carlos Gu as they attempt to evade capture by Ray Howard and his elite team of Hunters. The duo recently completed a UK dance tour and have appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox.
Arguments and bonding
Speaking to Digital Spy, they spoke candidly about how challenging the show was. Carlos said: “We fight, we make each other cry – you know, we've shared so much together. Our friendship has really been challenged throughout the show... But we survived. So I think Celeb Hunted really cemented our friendship, which I will cherish forever.”
When asked about specific moments that tested them, Carlos revealed: “All the time! Honestly. The amount of arguments we had doing the show is relentless.” Amy added: “There were highlights there amongst it. It's got to be a hard show, it's for Stand Up to Cancer, it can't be easy. I think we had the biggest argument over carrot cake.”
“Which in any normal situation in life, we would not be arguing over. It was him wanting to go to the shop to get carrot cake, but I thought we were at risk, and I didn't want him to go and buy carrot cake in a shop.” Carlos clarified that during filming Amy was anxious about being captured on CCTV. Amy said: “You don't sleep properly, you're not eating enough, so you're then hangry, tired, emotional, and then what happens then is – you're just snapping at each other.”
Reflecting on their time, Amy continued: “We started off as very close friends... But we finished Hunted as family. It brought us so much closer together.”

Joining them are EastEnders legend Brian Conley with his daughter Lucy; Love Island stars Chris Taylor and Toby Aromolaran; JJ Chalmers and Sophie Morgan; presenting siblings Scarlette and Stuart Douglas; and comedians Jen Brister and Laura Smythe. The celebrity duos must vanish into mainland Britain for 14 days, staying hidden and trusting no one.
