The annual Razzie Awards, which celebrate the worst in cinema, have announced their nominees for 2015, with Fifty Shades of Grey and Adam Sandler's Pixels leading the pack with six nominations each. Other contenders for the worst picture award include Jupiter Ascending, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, and Fantastic Four.
The tongue-in-cheek Razzies, established in 1980, serve as a counterpoint to the Oscars, awarding a gold spray-painted trophy worth $4.97 to the year's most disappointing films. Winners are chosen by approximately 900 members of the Razzie committee, with anyone able to vote for a $40 membership fee.
Sylvester Stallone, who recently won a Golden Globe for his role in Creed, is nominated for the Razzie Redeemer Award, which recognises actors who have moved from past Razzie infamy to critical acclaim. He faces competition from Will Smith, Elizabeth Banks, and M. Night Shyamalan.
Perennial Razzie favourite Adam Sandler, nominated for five consecutive years, received nods for worst actor in Pixels and worst screen combo for 'Adam Sandler & Any Pair of Shoes' in The Cobbler. Eddie Redmayne, a potential Oscar contender for The Danish Girl, was nominated for worst actor for Jupiter Ascending, while Rooney Mara received a worst supporting actress nod for Pan.
The Razzies ceremony will be held on the night before the Oscars on 28 February, and winners rarely attend.
