Alex Jones Announces The One Show Schedule Change for World Cup 2026
Alex Jones Reveals The One Show Schedule Change Next Week

Alex Jones announced a significant scheduling change at the end of Friday's episode of The One Show. The BBC programme will not air on Monday as it makes room for FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage, returning on Tuesday.

World Cup Disrupts Regular Schedule

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is currently underway, with coverage dominating both ITV and BBC. This has caused havoc with the timetables of numerous popular shows. On Friday's The One Show, Alex, 49, presented alongside Roman Kemp. They were joined by Tip Toe star David Morrissey, wildlife presenter Steve Backshall, and singer Sienna Spiro, who performed live.

Alex's Announcement

Towards the end of the programme, Alex informed viewers: "A big thanks to all of our guests for joining us tonight. We have the night off on Monday to make way for the World Cup. So we'll be back on Tuesday, keeping cool in the studio with actors Hannah Waddingham, Octavia Spencer, J.K. Simmons, and Tom Brittney. But for now, singing us into the weekend, it's Sienna Spiro with Material Lover."

David Morrissey Discusses Tip Toe

During Friday's show, actor David Morrissey opened up about his recent Channel 4 series Tip Toe. The five-part suburban thriller, starring David, 61, and Alan Cumming, was written by Russell T Davies. David plays electrician Clive, while Alan plays gay bar owner Leo. The synopsis states: "When Leo gives his next-door neighbour Clive his spare key, simple disagreements escalate into dangerous hostility."

Reflecting on the show's reception, David said: "It's always that thing of putting... you put so much hard work into it, and walking down the street, people have been really vocal about how much they've felt moved by the show. Some people just came up and shook my hand and said 'well done'. So yeah, it's landed very well. You never know how a show will be received, but it's been received really, really well."

The One Show airs on weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
