A £12 million Viking-themed attraction, Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, has opened at Paultons Park in Hampshire, just in time for the summer season. The new area is aimed at older children and teenagers and includes two major new thrill rides.
The park's first inverting rollercoaster, Drakon, features a vertical lift hill and two inversions. Another ride, Vild Swing, swings riders 12 metres into the air. The existing Cobra ride has been transformed into a bobsled adventure renamed Raven.
A Nordic-themed restaurant, Feasting Hall, has opened in Valgard, complete with a life-size Viking longship, iron chandeliers and Viking shields. The menu includes burgers, couscous bowls, fried chicken, fries and ice cream. A playground called The Orchard offers slides, climbing frames and a net swing for young children.
Valgard is Paultons Park's largest investment to date, with plans to add a water-based ride by 2027. The area is adjacent to the Lost Kingdom section. James Mancey, deputy managing director, said the launch marks an exciting new era for the park, which has been owned by the Mancey family since 1983.
With the addition of Valgard, Paultons Park now boasts 80 family-friendly rides and attractions across six themed worlds, including the popular Peppa Pig World.
