Sam Thompson has spoken out after his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott went public with her relationship with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. The Love Island star posted a photo of the pair kissing on Instagram, which Thompson described as a 'hard launch' that left him blindsided.
Speaking on his podcast 'Staying Relevant' with co-host Pete Wicks, Thompson revealed his phone 'blew up' after the post. 'I'm watching some YouTube video and my phone just starts blowing up. I thought I'd been cancelled!' he said. He added: 'Mate it's dinged up, you know when everyone is like, "Just checking in mate, is everything ok?" and I'm looking at my phone like "What is going on?"'
Thompson admitted he wouldn't wish a hard launch on his worst enemy. The I'm A Celebrity winner had previously confessed to struggling after the split, which occurred in January, and recently revealed he has joined dating app Hinge. He joked about the prompts, saying one of his answers to 'I'd fall for you if...' was 'if you say you like me'.
During the podcast, Pete Wicks also admitted under a lie detector test that he had disliked one of Thompson's previous partners, though he did not specify which one. Thompson has been open about his difficulties post-breakup, asking fans for advice on navigating the dating scene.
