Yungblud has paid an emotional tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, vowing to play his cover of 'Changes' every night for the rest of his life. The Black Sabbath frontman's death was announced on Tuesday (July 22), with his family stating he was 'surrounded by love' at the age of 76.
The heavy metal icon's final performance took place at the 'Back To The Beginning' show in Birmingham on July 5, where Yungblud performed the cover with musicians including Nuno Bettencourt, II of Sleep Token, and Adam Wakeman. Following the tribute, Yungblud officially released the version, which Ozzy called 'an amazing job'.
In a social media post, Yungblud described Ozzy as his 'North Star' and said he owed 'so much' to the Osbourne family. He added: 'To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd who loved you was truly my life’s greatest honour and I vow to play this song every night for the rest of my life.'
Yungblud also gifted Ozzy a custom-made gold cross at the show, returning the favour after Ozzy gave him a cross during the filming of their 2022 music video for 'The Funeral'. The singer told Ozzy: 'You gave me your cross, and I wanted to return the favour.' Ozzy responded visibly moved, saying Yungblud could always reach out to him.
Ozzy's death comes after years of health issues, including a Parkinson's Disease diagnosis in 2019. He was 76 years old.
